NPFL matches coming up Sunday have almost all the international referees from Nigeria in action.
As a means to verify their capacity and justify why they are first among equal in the whistle blowing bussiness in the country, the FIFA referees badged in Kano last Thursday are deployed to the various centres for matches, which the President of the Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, Otunba Tade Azeez said is a good development.
According to Tade, the action is to further institute perfect refereeing at the domestic scene.
One of latest FIFA referees who will soon proceed outside the shores of our land for CAF Young Referees course, Grema Mohammed of the Borno State council is already at Nnewi, Anambra state for the Ifeanyi Uba vs Warri Wolves game. The University of Maiduguri staff will be assisted on the lines by another new FIFA badge referee for the Futsal, Bello Zuru of Kebbi and a strong hand with the flags, CAF Elite A woman referee, Benue’s Mimisen Iyorhe.
In Kano, where the Supremo of Nigerian referees and former Register of the University of Ilorin, retired FIFA Emmanuel Dada Obafemi will be on the stands to monitor how the latest Amazon of the whistle, FIFA Alaba Olufimilayo will control proceedings in the Jigawa vs Adamawa game, another FIFA referee, Efosa Egudia of Edo will run the lines alongside Idowu Adepoju of FCT.
A 2019 Futuro 111 course participant, Barrister Cecilia Ugbuji of Rivers State Referees Council will have her jotting notes nearby to record the performances of a Pastor cum FIFA futsal referee from Imo State, Indubuisi Uka, and FIFA Samuel Pwadutakam, the assistant referee 1 in the Lobi vs MFM. Abdulahi Sani of Kano is the AR2.
The South-South derby in Uyo, Dakkada International vs Rivers Utd has the duo of Nurrudeen Abubakar of Bauchi and Abdulmajeed Usman of Oyo, all FIFA referees as Referee and Assistant Referee 1 respectively. The team is completed by Kogi’s Emeje Friday Abu the AR2 while Samson Court is 4th Official. The quartet shall be assessed by a unionist, Comrade Jubril Bancir, the Chairman of the Plateau State Referees council.
The President, Otunba Tade Azeez while urging the referees to make real the fair and firm mantra of the NRA, wishes all appointed match officials safe trip after a successful game.
