Katsina United captain, Taisu Lawal scored the match winner for his team in their match day 17 tie with FC Ifeanyi Ubah on Sunday. Lawal’s third minute goal is his eighth for the season moving him to the top of the NPFL goal scorers’ chart for the season overtaking Ibrahim Mustapha of Plateau United.
Another striker who found his goal scoring boot was Ndifreke Effiong who bagged a brace for Akwa United in their 3-1 over Heartland of Owerri. Effiong had scored 4 goals all season before the fixture but now has 6 for the season.
Fellow striker, Akarandut Orok netted his fifth of the season after scoring Akwa United’s third of the night.
In Akure, Anthony Omaka scored twice for Sunshine Stars in the 36th and 61st minutes as they played out a 2-2 draw with Kano Pillars. Auwalu Ali was the hero for the guests as he twice in the 49th and 70th minutes scored the equalizers.
Elsewhere, inform striker Ibrahim Mustapha fired blank for Plateau United as they played out a goalless draw with MFM FC. Rivers United striker, Martin Ossy also could not find the back of the net as proceedings ended without a goal between Rivers United and Wikki Tourists.
