The Football club Owners Association of Nigeria (Club Owners) have condemned in strong terms the unruly behaviours of fans at the Umuahia Township stadium on Sunday which caused disruption and discontinuation of the NPFL Matchday 20 encounter between Abia Warriors FC and Enyimba FC.
The Association also frowned at the attack on spectators and team officials including the highly respected chairman of
Enyimba FC and NFF chieftain Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu.
According to reports available to our office, it was informed that fans and supporters of both teams threw caution to the winds when a penalty awarded to the home team Abia Warriors FC was missed thus led to the throwing of missiles between fans of both teams which disrupted the game and caused injuries to spectators and team officials.
Club Owners call on the Abia state Football Association, the management and supporters clubs of both teams to fish out the perpetrators of the evil acts and ensure that they are prosecuted, while it charged the League Management Company LMC to conduct an in depth investigation into the remote cause of the violence with a view to applying the necessary sanctions against the perpetrators.
The Association in a statement jointly signed by the chairman Barr. Isaac Danladi and the Executive Secretary Alloy Chukwuemeka urged Clubs to educate and sensitize their supporters and fans against acts that are capable of bringing the game into disrepute, considering the huge success recorded so far in the ongoing season.
