In a bid to improve skills and performance of Africa’s table tennis coaches and players, the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and Nigeria Table Tennis Federation are organizing a coaching training for Table Tennis coaches in Ibadan.
The training is being organized under the Olympic Solidarity Coaching programme and International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
Secretary-General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Mr Olabanji Oladapo, has stated that one of the aim of the training is to update the skills of Table Tennis coaches on the modern technicalities of the game.
He said, “It is the hope of the Nigeria Olympic Committee that coaches that are participating in this programme will take advantage of it and exploit the expertise of the instructor to improve their technical abilities.”
20 coaches are currently taking part in the training being taught by Egyptian ITTF Instructor, Ahmed Aldawalatly.
Participants in the training are from Ghana, Burkina Faso, Tunisia and the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
The training, which started on Monday, 13th May will end on Saturday, 18th May.
