Former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West has stated that no team can stop the current crop of players in the Super Eagles’ squad from going all the way in the African Showpiece in Cameroon, come 2022.
The former amazing and passionate defender, who is now a preacher of the Gospel in an exclusive chat with Sports247, admitted that with all things being equal, Nigeria now has a Golden Generation of exceptional players, who could challenge any team in the world on their day. He stated that Nigeria is now blessed with so many amazing football talents all over the globe, Who are doing wonders for their respective club sides and if these players could replicate the level of high performances they give to their various club sides, down to the National team, no team can stop the 2013 AFCON Champions.
“For me, I think we now have a Golden Generation of players, Who are doing great things for their various club sides. Look at the likes of Ndidi and Iheanacho, winning the FA Cup in England, Chukwueze winning the Europa League, Troost Ekong helping Watford back to the EPL, Oshimen, Onuachu, and Simy couldn’t stop scoring for their respective club sides, and many more exceptional players doing well in their respective football clubs.
“This is a golden generation of the Super Eagles, and with all things being equal, I see us winning the Nations Cup in 2022 (In Cameroon). If only our players would replicate the form they are showing in their various club side, I don’t think anyone can stop us”, he added.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria, led by Coach Gernot Rohr will be one of the favorites to win the AFCON when the African Showpiece kicks off in 2022 in Cameroon.
