Romanus Chinonso and Emeka Oyieke scored two crucial goals in both halves to secure maximum points for Solution FC in a dominant performance against Kun Khalifat FC at the Awka City Stadium.
The match was part of the match day 6 fixtures of the ongoing 2024/25 Nigeria National League (NNL).
Under the guidance of Cameroonian tactician Emmanuel Deutcsh, Solution FC retained the starting lineup that previously defeated Gateway United FC. This decision paid off as the team delivered a convincing win in the highly anticipated Oriental Derby.
Solution FC nearly scored within the first minute when Chibuzor Ekeocha’s powerful strike from a tight angle narrowly missed the target after a swift attacking play that caught Kun Khalifat’s defense off guard.
Defender Solomon Akpan also came close with a long-range free-kick in the 20th minute, as the home side ramped up pressure.
The breakthrough came in the 44th minute when Romanus Chinonso’s sublime free-kick sailed past Kun Khalifat’s goalkeeper, Chizoba Uwandu, giving the Solution Boys a deserved 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, substitute Emeka Oyieke doubled the lead in the 67th minute, heading in a precise cross from the overlapping Chibueze Oputa just four minutes after coming on.
Despite a clear penalty appeal in the dying minutes when Divine Victor was fouled in the box by Joseph Ameh, the referee waved play on. The match ended 2-0 in favor of Solution FC.
Solution FC now shifts focus to their match day 7 clash against Abakiliki FC, scheduled for Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Abakiliki Township Stadium, Ebonyi State.
