Ekiti United FC on Saturday evening lost 1-2 to Coal City United FC in the Nigeria National League in Enugu on Saturday evening.

The match day 2 fixtures took place at the UNEC Temporary Stadium saw Ekiti United began the evening on a strong footing.
However, it was the home team who almost took the lead in the 24th minute but the post came to the rescue for Ekiti United from a freekick that beat goalkeeper Temitope Bankole in goal.
The home team kept calling but a superb Bankole performance in goal made sure the Kehinde Anjorin’s side went into the interval goalless.
On resumption, it was the visitors who came alive and raced to the lead in the 51st minute when Seyi Akinyemi connected a long-range cross from the right side at the edge of the box to strike home.

Moments after the visitors took the lead, Coal City burst into life and got the leveler from Chinonso Chineme who made no mistake to connect a well-timed cross to head home for 1-1 in the 64th minute.
The home side however doubled their lead in the 76th minute from a resultant penalty which was well taken by Chukwu Mikey who sent Temitope Bankole the wrong way for 2-1 after Adiat Sodiq was adjudged to have fouled a Coal City player inside the box.
Ekiti United searched for the equalizer but Kehinde Olajuyin and Kamaru Adebari’s efforts were not enough to rescue a point for the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium giant side.
Ekiti United will next Sunday host Abeokuta Stormers SC on matchday 3 in Ado-Ekiti.
