Ikorodu City FC creative defender and captain Sabastian John has stated that he is pleased with his side’s hard earned point away at Campos FC in the 2022 Nigeria National League (NNL22) on Saturday.
Ikorodu City held on to a 1-1 draw after letting their lead slip in the first half. Gabriel Adewara’s goal directly from a free kick had put the away side in the driver’s seat in the 30th minute, but their lead was short-lived as Campos FC equalized just before halftime.
Speaking to Sports247.ng, Sabastian said it was a point earned rather than two points dropped but insists they will continue to work hard to ensure they improve as a team.
“Our aim coming here was to pick up the three points but we’re also happy to earn a point here,” the Ikorodu City centre-back said. “We are happy with the draw because it’s something that we have been working on for the past week. It’s something for us to be glad because we made it.
“As the captain of the team, I am pleased with the effort of everyone. We work together, we help each other to make sure we achieve our aim as a team. We can obviously do better. We will continue to work to improve. We’re hoping to pick up a win in our next fixture.”
