“The draw was like a loss for us. We had our chances but couldn’t convert. We lost concentration at the tail end of the game which cost us the game and led to a draw. We did not expect this kind of result because we worked very hard but that’s football. We’ll go back and work in our mistakes for the matches ahead,” Akin Olalabi told Sports247.
Joy Cometh hosted Bayelsa United in the Nigerian National League and after going ahead in the game, it ended 1-1 as both teams shared the points.
Labi further put part of the blame on the officiating and the major bulk on the players for not taking their chances.
“In the first half, we had two clear goals disallowed because the assistant refresh ruled them out which was clearly wrong. However, we had enough chances to win the game so I don’t really blame the officiating,” he said.
“Had that been the only chance we had, we could say it’s the officiating but we had clear chances and we could have scored four to five goals. Our nonchalant attitude cost us the game,” Labi concluded.
