Nigeria National League NNL side, Vandrezzer FC has come out to inform their fans that the team’s home games will now be played behind closed doors and live broadcasts of the matches will also be suspended.
According to a statement signed by the management of the club on the official website, the decision was necessitated due to the commencement of reconstruction work going on at the home ground of the club, Teslim Balogun Stadium TBS, undertaken by the Lagos State Government.
The management pointed out key reasons why fans will not be allowed as well as live broadcasts will also not be possible during this construction process. According to the statement, “though the reconstruction doesn’t affect the pitch of play but does not provide the right ambiance for live broadcast and may highlight the stadium in its current unflattering state thus negatively impacting the image of the league.”
The club further state that it will not welcome fans on the premises for safety purpose to avoid possible injuries thus ” we have resolved to play our next home matches behind closed doors”
Vandrezzer FC have promised to make a refund to all fans, visitors, and online subscribers who have made payments on every platform just to access games. The club also commends the Lagos State Government for the wonderful work going on at the Teslim Balogun Stadium which is home to five professional Lagos football clubs. Meanwhile, there are moves made now to have a temporary ground prior to the completion of the reconstruction at the TBS.
