NNL SUPER-8: Ikorodu City Coach Bright Ozegbagbe Reflects on Promotion to NPFL: “A Testament to Hard Work and Sacrifice”

Following Ikorodu City FC’s triumphant promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) via the NNL Super 8, head coach Bright Ozegbagbe has expressed profound gratitude and excitement for his team’s remarkable achievement.

“The feeling at the moment is one of thankfulness,” Ozegbagbe remarked. “It’s overwhelming. Words cannot truly capture the emotions we’re experiencing right now. The boys have put in incredible hard work throughout the season, and today’s success is a culmination of that relentless effort.”

Ikorodu City FC’s journey to the NPFL has been anything but easy. Established only a few years ago, the club has quickly ascended the ranks of Nigerian football, demonstrating resilience and determination. “The journey has been interesting and tough,” Ozegbagbe reflected. “It has required a lot of work, a lot of hard work, and tremendous sacrifice. We’ve also had incredible support from our management.”

Ozegbagbe highlighted the development of his players both individually and as a cohesive unit. “Taking each game in the league as it came, we used every opportunity to develop and shape the team,” he explained. “Progressing through the tournament and securing the promotion ticket today is a testament to our growth and perseverance.”

The promotion to the NPFL is a milestone for the club, bringing new challenges and responsibilities. “This promotion means a lot for the club, the players, and myself as a coach,” said Ozegbagbe. “We’re a young team, and it’s my first time in the NNL. Everything has been new to us, and the challenges were significant.

This achievement underscores the need for even more hard work to sustain the club in the NPFL and to continue our development.”

Looking ahead, Ozegbagbe acknowledges the increased responsibilities that come with competing at the highest level of Nigerian football. “Promotion brings more responsibilities,” he noted. “We have to be ready to face them head-on. We are committed to sustaining our success in the NPFL and continuing to grow as a club.”

As Ikorodu City FC prepares for their debut season in the NPFL, the entire team, led by Coach Ozegbagbe, remains focused on building on their hard-earned success and embracing the challenges of top-flight football.
