NNL SHOCKER! How Inter Lagos Silenced FC One Rocket In Seven Goal Thriller

Players, coaches, officials and supporters of Inter Lagos FC are still celebrating their team’s amazing comeback in a sensational 4-3 spanking of FC One Rocket of Uyo in the lower division Nigerian National League (NNL).

The result became dramatic when the home side had to storm back from 3-1 down midway through the second half to eke out a historic result at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

The result kept alive the aspirations of Inter Lagos for a spot in the end-of-season play-off and possibly gain promotion to the top-flight Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

They stay joint-top of the log, separated only on goal difference with Ikorodu City, which they will tango next in a local derby, while FC One Rocket is lowly placed at 8th position on the eleven-team table.

Scorer of the fourth and winning goal for Inter Lagos, Abubakar Tahir admitted it was a tough game for his side and expressed delight in being the one who saved the day for the hosts.

Tahir declared, “The game was quite interesting. We were initially down, so we had to fight with everything to come back and still win the game.

“However, I still had the belief that when we were down, we would eventually win the game.”
He went on to speak about the factors that accounted for his performance in the game and how he eventually got the winning goal.

“I told myself that I just had to score. All that was on my head was just to score,” said the excited midfielder.

“I told myself that we just had to win … we must win this game. That was just what was on my mind.

“I wouldn’t say we were overconfident, but we were too anxious and in a hurry to score. We made a lot of mistakes, and we just had to correct ourselves.”

Tahir affirmed that getting all three points at home was crucial for his side, especially after losing their last game away to Gateway United of Abeokuta and their next fixture is a derby with Ikorodu City, who recently defeated them in the Lagos State FA Cup final.

“This victory means a lot to me and my team. We want to be in the play-off for promotion and hope to get the promotion ticket.

“Our next match is against Ikorodu City. Hopefully, it’s a game we can win. It’s a winnable game for us.

“Hopefully, we can win this time, though they beat us in the FA Cup final. That’s another reason why we must beat them this time.

“I hope we’ve learnt from our mistakes and done the right things to collect three points. By God’s grace, we’ll collect them, ” Tahir submitted
