Morgan Agbeko 23rd minute header helped Remo Stars FC secure all three points against FC One Rocket in the first game of the 2020/21 NNL second stanza at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo.
Both sides started brilliantly in the early minutes of the game but the host came closer to go ahead in the 3rd minute after Ismail Sodiq located Agbeko Morgan who in turn sent in a cross but nobody was close to convert.
What looked like the closest opportunity for the Sky Blue Stars came in the 5th minute after Ogunribide Oluwaseun took a short pass to Adedayo Olamilekan, he took the shot immediately before Abel Akah handled it the ball inside the box.
The visitors delayed the game for five minutes before Agbeko Morgan stepped up to take the spot-kick, Nwoko punched the ball towards Adah Mathias but his rebound went wide.
After a while, the host finally broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute as Agbeko Morgan rose high to nod in a free-kick from Ismail Sodiq after the referee sighted an infringement on Adedayo Olamilekan.
The Sky Blue Stars tried to double their lead after Ogunribide Oluwaseun took a corner kick, Adah Mathias nodded up and it fell towards Agbeko Morgan who took a shot after sighting Nwoko out of his line but Etim Charles was quick to clear to maintain the scoreline.
Towards the end of the first half, Adah Mathias would have recorded his name in the goalscorers sheet but the woodwork denied his brilliant free-kick.
The introduction of Dada Oladimeji and Nwala Ifeanyi brighten up the game with the former creating chances that could have gone in favor of the host. He dribbled two of his markers to shoot at goal but the visitor’s goalkeeper was calm enough to pull a save.
The visitors continued to find an equalizer but the host seems satisfied with the loan goal to give them maximum points in week 14 of the ongoing Nigeria National League.
