In line with Nigeria National League (NNL) directive to play matches behind closed doors, the management of Gateway United FC has again restated its resolve not to welcome fans to its ground for the time being.
In a statement, the club notes that its insistence on playing behind closed doors became more imperative with the last circular sent by the governing body of the NNL, cautioning clubs to either comply fully or be banished and fined.
Playing with no fans is in line with the conditions prescribed by the Presidential Task Force PTF on covid-19 and the federal ministry of youth and sports development.
The teeming supporters of the Gateway club are further enjoined to accept the decision as one of the precautionary moves to stop the spread of the ravaging Covid-19 as well as ensuring a quick return of fans to match venues.
Meanwhile, fans will be kept abreast of proceedings with live text commentary on the club’s Facebook page and Twitter handle (Gateway United) while the highlights of the game will be uploaded on YouTube (Gateway United FC) after each home game.
Gateway United will square up against Godosky on Saturday 20th March 2021 at MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
