In a recent unfortunate incident, players, coaches, and officials of FC ONE Rocket, based in Abat, Akwa Ibom State, fell victim to an armed robbery attack while returning from a match against Ikorodu City Football Club in Lagos.
The NNL board, deeply saddened by the incident, has offered its sympathy to the affected team members.
The armed robbery occurred in the late evening at Ihiala, Anambra state, where armed bandits on motorbikes intercepted the team’s bus.
The assailants, after stopping the vehicle, proceeded to rob the 18 players and seven officials, including Chief Coach Ndubisi Ndah.
The victims were instructed to surrender their phones, money, and other valuables before the robbers swiftly fled the scene.
The Chief Operating Officer of NNL, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahaman, expressed gratitude that no player or official was physically harmed, and no lives were lost during the incident.

In a letter of sympathy to FC ONE Rocket, he acknowledged the setback and encouraged the team to remain resilient in their pursuit of success in the remaining matches of the ongoing 2023/2024 NNL season.
“It is a temporary setback, and we hope this will not deter you from positively moving forward in your quest to do well in your remaining matches,” stated Dr Abdulrahaman.
“We identify with you on the unfortunate incident. Please put it behind you. We continue to pray for you for a hitch-free season, and may the good Lord keep protecting us.”
FC ONE Rocket, a privately owned club in the NNL, currently holds the eighth position on the league table, having lost their away match to Ikorodu City by 2-0.
