NNL Chairman George Aluo has praised the solid performance of NNL clubs in the Round of 16 of the ongoing President Federation Cup, highlighting their quality and competitiveness

The remarkable performance of Nigeria National League (NNL) clubs in the President Federation Cup Round of 16 has once again demonstrated the league’s solid foundation and competitive edge.

Clubs including Sokoto United, Inter Lagos, EFCC, Kebbi United, and El-Kanemi Warriors secured their places in the quarter-finals, showcasing the depth and quality of the NNL.

Aluo highlighted the outstanding performances of the clubs, describing their success in the Round of 16 as a testament to the league’s quality this season.

One of the most notable upsets was delivered by Sokoto United, who defeated the heavyweights Enyimba of Aba with a 1-0 scoreline.

El-Kanemi Warriors also stunned Shooting Stars of Indiana with a similar result, while EFCC edged out Wikki Tourists, the conquerors of Bendel Insurance, with a lone goal.

Inter Lagos advanced to the next round after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Ikorodu City, winning 5-4 after the match ended 1-1 in regular time.

The quarter-final pairings are set, with EFCC FC facing Kebbi United, Abia Warriors taking on Sokoto United, El-Kanemi Warriors going up against Inter Lagos, and Sunshine Stars battling Kano Pillars.

The strong performances of these NNL clubs underscore the league’s growing strength and potential, with Aluo’s confidence reflecting the belief that an NNL team could go on to claim the President Federation Cup title.
