In an official statement, the NNL acknowledged Prudential Sports’ efforts to promote players and their brand but criticized the company for bypassing proper protocols. The league emphasized its exclusive ownership of all commercial rights to its matches, in line with its rule framework and international standards.
The NNL expressed concerns that such actions could undermine existing partnerships and potentially lead to legal disputes with its commercial partners.
“This is considered a deliberate ambush of our current partners, who may seek legal action if these activities continue,” the statement warned.
The league has instructed Prudential Sports Limited to halt all awards and related activities linked to NNL matches until a formal agreement is established. The Board reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its partners’ interests and ensuring strict adherence to league regulations.
This incident underscores the necessity of respecting commercial agreements and following proper procedures in professional sports sponsorships and promotions.
