Delta Force FC claimed the bragging rights and all 3 points in the battle of the Forces as a first-half double by Ekene Osuigwe put visiting Dynamite Force to the sword at J J Okocha Stadium Ogwashi-Uku in Matchday 15 of the 2020/2021 NNL season.
The Delta state football ambassadors came into the game at the back of 2 away losses and looking to appreciate and solidify their position at the top end of the table. Just like the doctor ordered, two minutes into the games the home side took the lead. Birthday boy Ekene Osuigwe met a lovely cross-field pass from the captain of the day Abiola Oyeyemi one time to beat onrushing Dynamite Force goalkeeper.
That set the tone for the match. Delta Force kept asking questions of the away side but couldn’t get pass a resolute defense of Dynamite Force led by Amend. That resolve was eventually broken at the stroke of halftime by that man again Osuigwe. Deruo Chima did well to beat his man down the right and played in Osuigwe who shot past the opposition goalkeeper for his and Delta Forces’ second of the match.
At the interval Coach, Sunday Okoh preached more of the same with maximum concentration. That nearly paid off at restart as Dynamite Force goalkeeper tipped over the bar a long ranger from substitute Abednego Akor. Osuigwe twice could have gotten his hattrick but twice was just inches away. First, he shot from a difficult angle having been played in by Ezeh Ekwutosim. Then his shot cannoned off the crossbar when his one-time shot beat the Dynamite Force goalie. Emmanuel Ihezuo would have added icing on the cake but his well-timed shot was blocked as Delta Force won comfortably at the J J Okocha Stadium in Ogwashi-Uku.
Delta Force FC will appreciate on the table after this huge result as they will travel to Ijebu-Ode to face table-topping Shooting Stars of Ibadan.
