Chief coach of high flying Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan Edith Agoye, was full of praises for his players after they battled hard to subdue Delta Force 1-0 in Ogwashi-Uku last weekend.
Playing on a pitch which they were not used to, the Oluyole Warriors, showed great tenacity to secure victory, a feat that saw the team extends its unbeaten run in the 2020/21season of the NNL to seven matches.
The Ibadan soccer lords scored in the first half through Akilu Muhammed and were able to hold onto the goal, shrugging off numerous attempts by the homers to level up.
“Today (Saturday), I saw in my players, the spirit of Warriors. Playing on a pitch like this was really frustrating but they adapted and gave their best.
“All of them, from the goalkeeper to the defenders, to the midfielders and to the attackers, they all did very well, I give it to them”, said Esin as the gaffer is fondly called.
The former Shooting Stars’ forward said with the players’ performance on Saturday, on such a bumpy pitch, the team can play on any pitch.
He, however, played down the seven games unbeaten run, stressing that the team will continue to work towards perfection.
“We still have a long way to go, you cannot start celebrating until it is over and I believe there is room for improvement”, added the former Prime FC and Gateway of Abeokuta gaffer, who said his attention has now been shifted to Wednesday’s matchday eight fixture against FC Nilayo in Ijebu-Ode.
