It was a nervy game for the host in the Nigerian National League meeting between Bayelsa United and Joy Cometh with the visitors looking to run away with the lead till a late leveler grabbed a point back for the host.
“A draw is better than nothing at all. We came for all 3 points but we started very slow and later got ourselves into the game but we conceded before we did that. We fought harder and fortunately, we got the goal towards the end and I’m very grateful,” Philip told Sports247.
Bayelsa United defeated top of the group table Remo Stars 4-0 in Bayelsa and were instantly considered as favorites to lead d group and many felt they should be top at the moment.
“Football is a very dynamic game and sometimes it doesn’t go as people expect it to go. I believe our next few games will be better, we’ll go all out for 3 points home and away and I believe we will be top by then,” Philip said.
The player also considered his side as one of the teams aiming for promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League next season and feels his side are trying to replicate a good standard in every game and putting out their best performance in order to achieve that. The lad also made mention of how well the Bayelsa United management are doing in terms of the welfare of the players.
