Ogun State owned football outfit, Gateway United FC has resumed training and other preparatory activities ahead the 2022/2023 Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign.
The first training session of the year was held today at Muda Lawal Stadium, Asero, Abeokuta.
Addressing the team which included returning and scouted ones, the General Manager of the Club, Niyi Soleye welcomed both officials and players to the new year and advised that every player should take the task at hand very seriously.
He also informed the players that the State Government ably led by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is committed to do more than ever before in order to spur the Team to achieve the set targets.
Also speaking on the resumption, the Head Coach, Toyin Ayinla said the Club has continued from where it left off last year before the yuletide.
“The Camp opened on the 6th of January but our first training session was this morning in order to accommodate players coming from afar and as you can see, we have a full complement of our players. We believe in early preparations and that’s what we are keying into”
“We shall play different grades of friendlies and possibly go on at least one Tour before the Season kicks off. The mood in Camp is encouraging. The players are internalising our techniques/tactics and competition is already intense as everybody wants to be on the train. So that’s the plan for now as we look forward to the date of NNL resumption. We shall continue to prepare as if the Season is starting tomorrow” he concluded.
