Barely a week to the commencement of the Nigeria National League, NNL, the football stakeholders in Oyo State appear to be too tarry in the dark as to when the governor of the state, Engineer Seyi Makinde, GSM will hand over the keys of their much-anticipated buses for the two teams in the state: Shooting Stars Football Club and Crown FC of Ogbomosho.
While teams like Rivers United, Sunshine, Remo Stars, Gateway are traveling with modern-day and many spacious buses, their neighboring counterparts particularly Osun United, 3SC, and Crown FC are left with aging and scrappy buses to convey their players and officials.
It would be recalled that the Sports loving Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has demonstrated willingness to take sports to the next level and this is evident in the remodeling of Lekan Salami Stadium and other stadia across the other parts of the state.
The investigation by our correspondent has it that the Oyo State Governor had approved the bus for Oluyole Warriors since the year 2020 but the management is yet to access the bus owing to administrative bottlenecks.
The situation at Crown FC of Ogbomosho is worrisome. The team is only left with a push and walk bus and the rickety vehicle is as old as the team. It’s overtly overwhelming that the available bus has undergone several repairs which have rendered it less useful for a long-distance journey and another administrative task in modern-day practice.
The implication of this development is that the two-state clubs and Osun United might not be able to embark on a smooth jolly ride like their counterparts and this may take a toll on both the players and team officials to perform any wonder in the coming season.
This week, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule presented two brand new 56 seater buses to Nasarawa United (men) and Nasarawa Amazon(women) while the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyezom Wike has boosted Rivers United with the express approval of a new brand bus.
When Will 3SC, Crown FC stop using rickety buses?
