NNL 2019/20: CLUBS PREPARE FOR RESUMPTION

With the 2019/2020 Nigerian National League season postponed indefinitely halfway into the season, clubs are keeping fit ahead of the resumption of league by playing friendly matches.

Niger tornadoes who sit in second position of group A2 of the league played Kada City FC, the group leaders of group A1 in a friendly match yesterday. The Minna based club side shocked Kaduna after they ran out with a 2-1 win over Kada City.

Goals from Kabir Umar and Musa Wakili handed the Tornadoes victory in Kaduna. The friendly was a two-legged tie in which the Tornadoes got 4 points after playing out a goalless draw in Minna last week Friday.

Elsewhere, Osun United played out a 1-1 draw with Ogbomoso United also in a friendly match over the weekend. The match was played at the Osogbo Township Stadium where fans of the clubs trooped out to cheer the club.

Meanwhile in Abeokuta, Nilayo FC played out a goalless draw with Crown FC also in a preparatory match towards the resumption of the season.

The league was postponed indefinitely after discussions between the NNL management and relevant authorities of the parent body, the Nigeria Football Federation, on crucial and critical issues raised by NNL club owners, proprietors and managers meeting held in Abuja fell through.
