It was a winning start to the second stanza of the 2022 Nationwide League One Division One season for young side, Lekki United which coach of the side, Ayo Filani, attributes to learning a lot from the first half of the league.
“We’ve learnt a lot from the first stanza of the league. Coming back out now, we checked areas that we needed to fortify and create depth even as most of these players are playing in the league for the first time,” coach Ayo told Sports247.
“We have about five SS2 boys, some are just writing their WAEC which made them not meet up for the game and I hope they’re the future of Nigerian football and this is just us improving our game and making our mark in the league,” he added.
Some of the resolutions from the league body have set the bench mark for players registration in the NLO Division One to be 19years old at least and the question about experience rises for many sides, including Lekki United.
“Some times some of these mature players are not tactically sound, a few of them can affect the team positively and I won’t mind having one or two just like I brought in Bright from Remo Stars, but I won’t like to have a mature player that would be taking the team back technically,” Ayo Filani said.
