Done and dusted it is for the Nationwide League One from the Ilorin Centre, Kwara State, and unfortunately for the TCC League leaders, Remo Stars, they walk away with their heads held high after finishing second in what is their first appearance in the NLO.
Ezekiel Light of Remo Stars told Sports247 about his experience, time-wasting tactics, disappointment, and what’s next for the club as they return to base.
“The experience was quite different from other competitions I’ve played. It was tough because of the quality of the teams we played against, different environment, weather, playing surface which wasn’t really good but we had to adjust our game to adapt to the pitch, this is my first experience in the NLO,” Ezekiel said.
“As for delay tactics, when we’re leading late in the game, the pressure will always be there so we sometimes have to just kick the ball far away to reduce the pressure and delay the game because there were no ball boys and the teams have to get the ball themselves,” the lad said.
“Yes we’re disappointed at not winning the league but at the same time, we’re not really disappointed because we tried our best. We’re the youngest team in the tournament here and we really have our best. In the words of our coach, we’re winners in his heart so we just have to accept and move on,” Ezekiel said.
“The next thing now is to go back and focus on preparing for the resumption of The Creative Championship League and the Cup which resumes next month. We have to ensure we win them,” he concluded.
