Gabriel Chidiebere, a player of Mavlon FC, shared his thoughts on the intense encounter of the Nationwide League One match between Mavlon FC and Spartan FC, the game ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, leaving both teams with a point each.
Speaking in a post-match interview with Sports 247, “It was great. The spirit was OK,” Chidiebere expressed enthusiastically.
“We were losing 2-0, but we talked to ourselves and, you know, we came back to the game. So I’m very happy. I feel great.”
Reflecting on the turnaround in the second half, Chidiebere highlighted the team’s change in approach.
“In the first half, we were in a hurry to get the goals. So it was not coming,” he explained.
“After the break, our coach talked to us that we should keep the ball on the ground and play together.”
He continued, “In the second half, we talked to ourselves, and you know, we changed the game and played the ball on the ground. That was how we got our equalizer.”
When asked about the dramatic last-minute goal that secured the draw for Mavlon FC, Chidiebere revealed, “It was Number 8.”
Despite not expecting the goal, he emphasized the team’s hope for a miracle, which ultimately materialized.
Looking ahead to their upcoming game, Chidiebere expressed confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back.
“We’re expecting to win,” he stated. “We’ll go back to training, correct our mistakes, and we’ll come back stronger.”
