First trial and they made the most of it. Destiny Boys took Ikenne by surprise and went on to put on a display worthy of champions as they lost none of their league games from start to finish as they picked up the Nigeria National League ticket after defeating Collin Edwin FC 1-0.
Coach of the side Obafemi (MON), expressed joy and gratitude as he spoke with Sports247 after the game.
“We’re really grateful to God. True to our name, we’re children of Destiny. It wasn’t an easy final as Collin Edwin has younger and fitter boys,” Obafemi said.
“The journey wasn’t so easy, transiting from playing active football, to retirement and now giving back to my community as I see it. From scratch, we’re just a step from getting to the NPFL,” Obafemi added.
He also praised the performances of all his players as he could not single out a player as the best in the team. He explained that the team was not built around one player and they played as a unit which helped them.
