They came, they saw but they conquered not. That was the summary of Collin Edwins’ run in the Nationwide League One this season after losing the playoff final 1-0 to Destiny Boys FC.
Destiny Boys finished top of Group A, unbeaten after nine games and only dropping points twice while Collin Edwin finished top of Group B after a dramatic last day in the group but faced a stiffer and tougher test.
Speaking to Sports247 after the game, media Officer of Collin Edwin FC Ken Maduabuchi, congratulated Destiny Boys while also heavily criticizing the officiating.
“Congratulations to Destiny Boys, it’s been a tough ride all along, and to end it with a win, they deserve the congratulations, I wish them all the best in the NNL,” he said.
“But in all honesty, the better side lost. This is one of the worst Officiating I’ve seen as football followers and media practitioners in football. It’s embarrassing because this league is supposed to help young players to learn and become better but when the officiating is terrible, what can they do?” he continued.
“I’m not saying this because we lost but I’m just saying this from a sporting point of view. A big congratulations to Destiny Boys FC and bigger congratulations to our boys, the gladiators, they did amazingly well,” the media officer said.
