Chairman of Buruj Football Club of Ikorodu, Waheed Buruj Salaudeen has expressed optimism that his team would come out of relegation at the end of the Nationwide League One, NLO.
Salaudeen in a chat with Sports247 in Lagos admitted that his team are not doing well in the league but remains confident that the team would avoid relegation at the end of the season.
“Count Buruj out of relegation because we are not in the NLO for sight seeing but we are in the league to compete with other teams. Although we are not on top or middle of the table but we cannot relegate.
“We have reviewed our first round matches and the coaching crew have started working on the weakness of the team so Buruj would be better, strong and dangerous in the second stanza of the league. The fear of the team being relegated is out of place because I have the players who are ready to fight to the finish,” he added.
Commenting on the reverse fixtures, Salaudeen said their match against Broad City in their home would be tough but assured his fans good outing at the end of the match.
“The second round of the league would be crucial for every team and we have raised the bar and ensure that we target victory in all our matches. We cannot afford to lose again because our target is to remain in the league next season not to go down,” he concluded.
