Crime Fighters captain, Dauda Yusuf has conceded that the unfamiliar ground for thier game against T.C.C.G. FC was unfavorable as both teams battled out a 2-2 draw at the Surulere, Legacy Pitch yesterday for thier opening game of the 2023 Nationwide League One.
Crime Fighters were down by a goal after one of the defender cleared the opponent’s cross into his own net beyond the reach of his goalkeeper to give T.C.C.G FC the lead in the early part of the first half.
Speaking exclusively to Sports247.ng after the game, Dauda admitted that it was a good, close ended encounter from both teams.
“Overall, it was a good outing, just that we are not used to Astro turf pitch, we normally train on sandy pitches so we were a little bit tired,” he explained.
“But then, we knew what was at stake and that’s why we pushed harder to get a draw, it’s not bad for us as a team.”
“I am a very calm player and hardly shout on my players, the goal we first conceded was due to defensive errors but instead of shouting on them, I call them aside one on one to talk to them.”
“If you shout at a fellow player, sometimes, it’s bad for them and they can lose concentration, so I encourage more to keep going.”
On what to expect for their next game, “we will be at home in the next game and we want to get the maximum three points, hopefully, we will achieve that.”
