NLO MD1: Spartans FC Promise To Rain More Goals On All Opponents

This pledge was provided by the Agege-based club’s goalkeeper, Adamu Azeez Audu, who disclosed that their ambition is to win all their matches with wide goal margins this season.

He confessed that he was disappointed to have conceded a single goal in the encounter at Maracana Stadium, Ajegunle, as he planned on keeping a clean slate and set new records for goalkeepers in the Nigerian leagues.

The agile youngster, however, vowed to put in his very best as the matches come, with a view towards helping Spartans return to the second-tier Nigerian National League (NNL), where they were some years back.

Audu added that the club, which was founded and single handedly run at Oniwaya College, Agege, Lagos for several years by late Coach Rotimi Fagbenro (aka Sir Roteh), will pull off more surprises this season in the NLO.

He parried insinuations that the single goal scored by Alim City dampened his morale, saying that it instead made him determined more than ever to fight harder to maintain a clean sheet.
“It makes me feel great because football is a game of luck and skills too,” Audu reiterated.

“It’s also a game of winning and, no matter what happens, you should keep fighting. So, the opponents kept fighting until they scored that single goal.

“It also taught me to keep trying harder not to concede a goal again.”

Audu then spoke about the atmosphere in Spartans’ camp after the victory, which took them top of the table on goals difference, ahead of First Bank FC and Real Sapphire.

“I just say congrats to my colleagues, my coaches and my officials. It’s not easy to score six goals. That means we are trying, but there are more games to play.

“So, I’m praying that more goals and more victories are coming our way,” Audu sermonized.
