He fired the warning shot after donning the Elephant Boys’ captain’s band for the latter part of the second half of Saturday’s 5-1 trouncing of Colin Edwin Sports Club in their first match of the new season.
Chinda admitted he felt good being on the winning side and with such a wide margin, but acknowledged that it is only the first game of the new campaign and still a long way to go in the tough NLO terrain.
The vibrant second captain of the squad, however, declared further that each player on The Bankers’ roster is fully aware of the great task ahead of them.
He then stressed that all players from the Satellite Town-based outfit want to snatch every point at stake, in order to gain promotion to the second-tier Nigerian National League (NNL) at the end this season.
Chinda stated at length: “It’s a thing of joy starting with victory and with that kind of goal margin; but we are not going to relax because we won 5-1. We’ll take it game after the game.
“We are happy, though, because we need all three points. You know, this season, we want to take all the points and go for the play-off and also win the play-off.
“It’s a good thing we’ve won, but we’ll still go back to the drawing board and do more to win further games.”
The enterprising youngster then revealed his personal targets for the season and overall as a footballer.
“The target that I set for myself is, first of all, to make it as a top professional footballer and one of my goals this year is to take First Bank to the NNL,” Chinda concluded.
