NLO Matchday 6: “We’ll Come Back Stronger”- Ganiu Mohjeed Optimistic Despite Alim City’s Defeat By First Bank FC

Ganiu Mohjeed, captain of Alim City, shared his insights on their recent encounter with First Bank FC in Match Day 6 of the Nationwide League One.

Despite a valiant effort in the first half, Alim City faced defeat after conceding a penalty in the second half, ultimately allowing First Bank to secure a 3-0 victory.

Speaking with Sports 247 in a post-match interview, Mohjeed commended his team’s defensive performance in the first half, highlighting their efforts to keep the formidable First Bank side at bay.

“I think in the first half we did very well not to concede a goal because we know they are a better side,” he stated. “We did very well to keep them from scoring.”

However, Mohjeed acknowledged that a lapse in concentration led to First Bank’s breakthrough in the second half, resulting in the penalty that ultimately shifted the momentum of the game.

“In the second half, we lost concentration towards the end of the game. There was an error in our defence, and the penalty they scored paved the way for them to score the second and third goals,” he explained.

Despite the setback, Mohjeed remained optimistic about his team’s resilience.

When asked about the impact of the penalty on the team’s morale, Mohjeed admitted that it had a demoralizing effect but expressed confidence in their ability to bounce back.

“The penalty let us down somehow, it let down the spirit of the team,” he admitted. “But I’m very sure we’ll bounce back. Our coach will work on that, and we’ll come back stronger.”

Looking ahead to their upcoming matches, Mohjeed emphasized the team’s determination to improve and achieve better results.

“In the next games, we’re going to up our game,” he affirmed. “We did very well today, considering the strength of our opponent.

I know in the next game we are coming with much more determination to win.”

Mohjeed’s reflections underscored Alim City’s commitment to learning from their mistakes and striving for excellence as they navigate the challenges of the Nationwide League One.
