Emmydinho’s FC forward Ezike John has admitted he feels ‘pleased’ to have scored the only goal in his side’s hard-fought 1-0 win over BYT Academical FC in the Nationwide League One on Monday.
Following a goalless first half, Emmydinho FC seized the lead in the 51st minute on a counterattack. Christopher Amaechi dribbled his way through the opposition’s penalty area before setting up Ezikie John for an easy finish. The goal decided the game in favor of the visitors.
“I am very happy with my performance and also that of my teammates for a great game today. I feel pleased to get on the score sheet. It was an important goal for the team. We worked hard in training to be able to get the job done.
John also made it clear to the rest of the league that Emmydinho will be no pushovers this season as they target promotion to the Nigeria National League, the second tier of Nigerian football. He said:
“We are very confident we’ll get the win in our next game. We’re not just here to partake, we’re here to compete. We came to win the league.”
