Crime Fighters coach, Coach Saturday Ede conceded that his players succumbed to early tiredness in their opening game of the NLO 2022/2023 season but praised their mentality to salvage a draw.
In his quoted words in a post match interview with Sports247.ng, he stated – “I’m very happy today, the league is just getting started now and we are very happy with the progress of the team.”

“This is an opportunity for us to showcase ourselves because this is the National League and we do want to proceed.”
Saturday didn’t hold back in explaining the situation of things when his side got exhausted in the early part of the tie.
“Sometimes, we have games like this when you slow down a little bit but it’s left for the coach to get himself back into it and make necessary tactical tweaks for the game to go on and that’s why we had to settle for a draw.”
“Gradually, as the competition progresses, we will get better in it,” he vowed.
On the model of the NLO organization where the league will be played for twenty-one days stretch, Saturday explained that for some teams, it’s good but for others, it’s not favorable.
“Like the Police team Crime Fighters, it’s a government team, so now, let’s compare it to individual teams owned by private investors, the longer they play the league, the longer the coaches and players receive their salaries.”
“It will help some people and it might not help some people, so those that it will be favorable for are the people involved in scouting tournament.
“Next time, let’s try and extend it more like two to three for four months to allow teams compete healthily,” he advised.
