Team Manager of Messiah Football Club of Lagos, Deji Becroft has warned his players to improve on their performance or face expulsion from the team.
This warning came after Messiah FC suffered a 1-3 defeat at the hands of Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club in a friendly match played at Agege Stadium, Lagos recently.
Beecroft while addressing the players after the match said he would not condone low productivity from any player who fails to play below average.
He said the defeat the club suffered against Prince Kazeem Eletu FC showed that many players played below average and warned the players to buckle up or face expulsion from the club. He said their next three friendly matches would assess some players and players who fail to rise to the occasion would be given marching order.
“I am not happy the way we played against Prince Kazeem Eletu FC. Our players lacked scoring ability and coordination in the midfield. The management has concluded to lay off any player who plays below average because we cannot afford to register average players to amateur one league which kicks off next month in Ogun State,” he said,
Beecroft said the club has secured sponsorship and he would not want to parade average players before the league starts.
He said the welfare of the players would be taken care of saying that the sponsor is ready to give necessary support to make the club get a promotion at the end of the league.
