Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) president, Engineer Musa Nimrod is basking in the euphoria of the country’s female national team’s recent conquest of the Camtel International Beach Volleyball Championship in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Although the male team could not replete the feat of their female colleagues, sports247.ng can report that Nimrod is excited that the contingent returned home with gold medals.
He noted that the ladies did so well to beat the hosts, Cameroon in the final, while the men only lost narrowly to Central African Republic.
Nimrod commended all the players for what he called full commitment and impressive performances at the championship, which he hopes is the ignition point of Nigeria’s surge to the Olympic Games in 2020.
He added: “This is just the beginning of our success stories in Beach Volleyball. The ultimate goal is to be at Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
“There are various championships next year and the federation is doing everything possible to ensure you do not miss any.
“With the help of God, board members and sponsors Nigeria will be one of the representatives at the prestigious Games.”
