The president of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod has cleared the air on lack of sponsors available for the sport in the country, but says it is not due to any laxity on the part of his board.
In contrast with critical comments that the federation has shut the door on willing sponsors, Nimrod told sports247.ng that they actually want to woo corporate bodies to back the spikers’ sport.
He stressed that efforts are on to ensure volleyball gets a committed, long-standing and credible sponsor that would bankroll the league.
Nimrod also disclosed that other aspects of developing the sport are also being looked into to get financial support from the private sector.
He averred: “We did not shut the door on sponsors to come and support the federation in our activities.
“It’s only that many people misunderstood me when I said recently that with or without sponsorship the federation can organize tournaments to uplift the game of volleyball in the country.”
