Nigeria’s Super Eagles experienced a slight setback in the latest FIFA rankings, dropping two places from 28th to 30th in the world.

The shift follows the team’s mixed results during last month’s international break under interim manager Finidi George.
In their recent fixtures, the Super Eagles secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over West African rivals Ghana in George’s debut match. However, they suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Eagles of Mali just days later, leading to their decline in the rankings.
Despite the drop, Nigeria maintains a significant lead over Ghana, who themselves slipped one spot to 68th in the world rankings.
The Super Eagles also remain ahead of Mohamed Salah’s Egypt, who currently sit at 37th in the global standings.
On the African continent, Nigeria retains its position as the third-ranked team, trailing behind Morocco at 13th and Senegal at 17th. Despite the setback in the rankings, the Super Eagles continue to assert their dominance in African football.
Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire, and Tunisia complete the top five rankings on the continent, standing at 37th, 38th, and 41st positions, respectively.
The slight dip in the FIFA rankings serves as a reminder of the competitive landscape of international football, with teams constantly vying for supremacy and seeking to maintain their positions on the global stage.
As Nigeria looks ahead to future fixtures, they will aim to bounce back and further solidify their standing among the world’s football elite.
