The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has urged the team to give their best, emphasizing that Nigeria’s para athletes have consistently demonstrated their ability to bring glory to the nation.

“Para athletes have shown time and again that they are just as capable of bringing glory to the nation as their able-bodied counterparts. We must ensure they have access to world-class training, exposure, and support systems. The NSC is committed to creating more opportunities for them to excel,” Hon. Olopade stated.

Five players will represent Nigeria in Victoria, competing in the singles category:

Eniola Mariam Bolaji (Women’s SL3 – Singles)

Okoro Chinyere Lucky (Women’s SL4 – Singles)

Chukwuemeka Ijeoma Gift (Women’s SL4 – Singles)

Eze Chukwuebuka Sunday (Men’s SL3 – Singles)

Nnanna Chigozie Jeremiah (Men’s SL4 – Singles)

For the Level 1 tournament in Madrid, three athletes will compete, with Jeremiah and Eze teaming up in the Men’s SL3-SL4 Doubles category.

Hon. Olopade stressed the importance of sustained investment in para sports, calling for improved infrastructure and grassroots development to help Nigeria’s para athletes reach their full potential.

These tournaments serve as a stepping stone for Nigeria’s para badminton stars as they chase global recognition and higher rankings, aiming for future success on the world stage, including the Paralympics.
