The 14-member squad—comprising 8 boys and 6 girls—represents Nigeria’s largest contingent ever for an African swimming competition.

The team is led by the President of the Aquatic Federation of Nigeria, Chinonye Daphey Aliyu, accompanied by Secretary General Taiwo Oriss, the swimmers’ parents, Head Coach Yellow Yeiyah, and Assistant Coach Labake Oriretan.

After more than two weeks of intensive training camp, the team is geared up for a strong performance. In the boys’ category, Abduljabal will lead the charge in the 50m and 100m freestyle events. Kashope and Aidan are reliable hopes in the 50m and 100m backstroke events.

Also in high spirits are Ayobami, Anjelo, and Stanley Ossai from Delta State, while Oluwatimilehin is ready to dominate in long-distance events.

The girls’ team is equally battle-ready, with Demilade Akanbi, Omolola, Atinuke, Boluwatife, Eva Omodara, and Tofunmi Ibidapo all poised to make a strong impression and secure medals for Nigeria.

With the wealth of talent in this team, the Aquatic Federation of Nigeria is optimistic that the young swimmers will surpass previous achievements and make a bold statement on the continental stage.
