In preparations for Nigeria’s upcoming international friendly games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique, the Super Eagles have had to make changes to their squad.
Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina, both plying their trade with Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League, will be replaced due to injuries they sustained.
Awoniyi and Aina, key figures for their club, will be unable to participate in the friendly matches.
Their absence in Nottingham Forest’s recent 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace served as an early indication of their injury concerns.
Steve Cooper, Nottingham Forest’s manager, disclosed that Awoniyi is expected to be sidelined for approximately one month due to a groin injury.
Awoniyi, in fine form, had notched up three goals in seven league appearances prior to his injury setback. On the other hand, Aina had made five appearances in the English top flight before his injury.
In response to these developments, Tyronne Ebuehi and Umar Sadiq have been called up to the Super Eagles squad as replacements.

The team is gearing up for their friendly clash with Saudi Arabia on October 13th, followed by another encounter against Mozambique on October 16th. Both games are set to take place in Portugal.
The adjustment in the squad aims to ensure that the Super Eagles have a strong and competitive lineup for these international friendlies, despite the unfortunate injuries that have affected Awoniyi and Aina.
Nigeria’s football fans will eagerly await the performances of the national team as they look to continue building momentum and form ahead of future competitions and qualifiers.
