The Eaglets, under the guidance of coach Manu Garba, seized control from the outset. The opening goal came swiftly, with Abdulmuiz Adeleke finding the net thanks to a well-timed assist from Abdulmuiz Oladimeji. The early lead set the tone for Nigeria’s dominance throughout the match.
Rapha Adams doubled the lead ten minutes before halftime, heading home a superb cross from captain Simon Cletus. This goal marked Adams’ second of the tournament, showcasing his aerial prowess and timing.
The Eaglets continued their offensive onslaught in the second half. Adeleke, having already opened the scoring, netted his second goal of the match just before the hour mark.
He skillfully collected a through pass from Cletus and slotted it past the Togolese goalkeeper. Despite his impressive performance, Adeleke missed the opportunity to complete his hat-trick, failing to convert a penalty in the 68th minute.
Nigeria’s victory was comprehensive, demonstrating their attacking flair and defensive solidity.
The win ensured they topped Group B with seven points from three matches, setting up a semi-final clash with Cote d’Ivoire. The other semi-final will feature hosts Ghana taking on Burkina Faso.
This result not only highlights the Golden Eaglets’ potential but also their preparedness for the challenges ahead. As they progress in the tournament, Nigeria will aim to maintain their high standards and continue their pursuit of the championship title.
