This remarkable achievement comes after their victory in the 2023 Afrobasket, where they emerged as African champions and one of the top two teams from Africa. Senegal, the finalist of the 2023 Afrobasket, also secured a spot in the qualifying tournament.

D’Tigress matched Senegal’s longstanding record by clinching their fourth consecutive women’s Afrobasket championship in a thrilling final held in Kigali in August. Their impressive performance earned them the opportunity to compete against 14 other teams, predominantly continental champions, alongside host France and World champions, the United States of America, for a place in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament is scheduled for February 2024 and will provide a platform for these elite teams to vie for a coveted spot in the Olympics.
