Nigeria’s 3-1 triumph over Ghana in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier on Saturday not only secured the team’s place in the final tournament but also showcased the steady progress of local football development.
Speaking to Sports247 after the match, Chief Executive Officer of ProStar Sports International, Ambassador Paul Maduakor, applauded the team’s performance, emphasizing its significance for domestic football.
“With this victory, it shows that our local league is surely improving,” Maduakor remarked, praising the homegrown talent that propelled the Super Eagles B team to success.
The match, played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, saw Nigeria dominate Ghana with three goals in quick succession from Sodiq Ismail, Nduka Junior, and Saviour Isaac. The result secured a 3-1 aggregate victory, sending Nigeria to the CHAN final tournament in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The spotlight on Nigeria’s local talent comes on the heels of a significant development in the domestic league. Earlier this year, the Nigeria National League (NNL) sealed a five-year partnership deal with ProStar Sports International, a reputable sportswear manufacturing company.
ProStar, an offshoot of Zenith Sports and owners of Haggai Sports, is committed to supporting grassroots football and enhancing the visibility of local leagues through this collaboration.
The partnership is already making strides in providing resources for players, further boosting the league’s competitiveness and preparing local athletes for the international stage.
