November 16 has been set aside as the date when the best Nigerian footballer would be made known, as this year’s National Sports Awards (NSA) will hold that day in Lagos.
Organizers of the awards, Unmissable Incentives, announced the shortlist of nominees for the 2018 edition at a ceremony in Lagos.
They disclosed that three footballers – Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and Rasheedat Ajibade – scored highest votes among the nominees in that category.
All three will battle for 2018 Nigeria Footballer of the Year award, after the male and female categories were rolled into one to make it unique.
Chairman of NSA panel, Dr. Kweku Tandoh announced nominees for the different categories including Footballer of the Year, Team Sports Person of the Year, Track & Field Star of the Year, Sports Governor of the Year, and Sports Administrator of the Year.
Other award categories to be voted for include Racket Sports Person of the Year, Basketball Player Of the Year, Para Sports Person Of The Year, Team of the Year, Discovery of the Year, Wrestler of the Year, Coach of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year and Sportsman of the Year.
Tandoh said he was highly excited about the massive response of the public towards nominations, which he said was over two million.
He expressed delight that the award was moving a notch higher considering the number of nominations received this year.
