Nigeria’s 3×3 basketball male and female teams both had bright starts to their campaigns at the zonal championship in Lome, Togo, with the two sides making it all the way to medals stages.
Sports247.ng can report that it all began on Friday, as both teams reached the quarter finals of the FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup with brilliant victories, which signified champions’ winning abilities for the country’s contingent.
First out, the female squad, D’Tigress advanced to the last eight after topping Pool B ahead of Egypt and Benin Republic, while the male defending champions, D’Tigers won against Cape Verde and Uganda to top Pool C.
Though D’Tigers started their title defence with a narrow win over Cape Verde 17-16, they sank Uganda 22-5 in their second game to book a quarter final ticket against Egypt on Sunday.
