Nigerians Abroad: Osimhen scores goal no. 20, Moses, Aina end season on a high

Nigeria and Fenerbahce forward, Victor Moses scored as his team defeated Antalyaspor 3-1 on the final matchday of the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.

The goal which came very late in the game sealed the game for the hosts and ensured Fenerbahce ended the season on a high.

This was Moses’ fourth goal in 14 appearances in the Super Lig this season.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahce finished sixth on the Turkish Super Lig standings with 46 points in 34 matches.

In Belgium, in-form Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen scored the fastest goal in a Belgian League match as Sporting Charleroi lost 3-2 to Royal Antwerp in the Belgium Europa League playoff finals.

Osimhen’s strike eclipsed the previous record of 10.80s set in 2013, incidentally by another Nigerian, Imoh Ezekiel.

Charleroi started the game well but a red card to Gjoko Zajkov in the 20th minute and a brace from DR Congo striker Dieumerci Mbokani either side of a Lior Refaelov penalty gave Antwerp the win and Europa League qualification.

Osimhen has 20 goals in all competitions this season; 12 in 25 league matches, one in the Belgian Cup, and seven goals in nine matches in the Europa League playoffs.

He was also voted Sporting Charleroi player of the season.

In Italy, William Troost-Ekong featured for Italian side Udinese as they got a 2-1 away victory over Cagliari in the last game of the season.

Udinese finished 12th on the table with 43 points from 38 matches.

Elsewhere, Nigeria fullback and Chelsea loanee, Ola Aina made an assist as Torino defeated Lazio 3-1 on Sunday.

Goals from Iago Falque, Sasa Lukic and Lorenzo De Silvestri in the second half were enough to get the win with Ciro Immobile’s goal serving as only a consolation.

Torino finished seventh on the Serie A standings with 63 points from 38 matches.
