Three Nigerian players were on target as Zamalek secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Modern in the Egypt Women’s Premier League on Friday.
Yetunde Fajobi emerged as the star of the match, netting twice for Zamalek, while her compatriot, Cynthia Onyedikachi, also found the back of the net.
Modern responded with goals from Hiyam Abdel Hafeez and Yemisi Samuel, but it wasn’t enough to deny Zamalek the win.
Fajobi, who is chasing the league’s top scorer title, moved up to second place with 23 goals—three behind former FC Masar striker Sandrine Niyonkuru. Al Ahly’s Charity Reuben follows closely with 22 goals, while Chinaza Agoh (ZED FC) and Alice Ogebe (FC Masar) have each scored 21.
With this victory, Zamalek remains in fourth place with 46 points, trailing league leaders FC Masar by nine points. Al Ahly (52 points) and Wadi Degla (48 points) hold the second and third positions, respectively.
