The 28-year-old forward has joined the Gers from Italian club US Cremonese on a four-year contract, for an undisclosed fee, pending international clearance.
Dessers’ arrival at Rangers marks manager Michael Beale’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window as the team prepares for the 2023/24 season. Expressing his joy at joining the club, Dessers shared his excitement in an interview with the club’s official website.
“I am really happy. It is a tremendous relief to finally be here,” Dessers stated. “While the history of the club, the passionate fans, and the iconic stadium are all enormous factors, I also considered the current state of the team.
I had productive discussions with Michael Beale regarding his plans and the vision he has for both on and off the pitch. It seemed like an excellent fit for me and the team, so I am delighted to be here.”
Dessers, who has made four appearances for the Nigerian national team, scoring one goal since his debut in October 2020, brings a wealth of experience and goal-scoring prowess to Rangers. The club and its fans will undoubtedly have high expectations for his contributions on the field.
As the deal is now complete, all eyes will be on Dessers as he joins Rangers and begins his journey with the Scottish powerhouse. The talented striker will look to make a significant impact and showcase his abilities in the club’s pursuit of success in domestic and international competitions.
